‘Wait It Out, Girls’: Mawra Hocane’s seven-year marriage advice

Mawra Hocane lent a slice of wisdom to young women at a recent event. Sharing her own view on the pressure to marry young, the actress urged single women to ‘wait it out’, recounting how questions about marriage started the moment she turned 25 and how she spent seven years fielding the same family interrogations before finding the right partner.

Her candid, slightly amused delivery was captured and shared by Galaxy Lollywood, where the Sanam Teri Kasam star’s line about valuing yourself and seeking someone who truly respects your work quickly made the rounds: “To all the girls who’re sitting here, who’re not married yet, please wait it out.

“I think the best thing I could do for myself was wait it out. Because the moment that I turned 25, every khala, chacha, mamoo started asking me: Beta, shaadi kab ho rhi hai?

“So you know, I waited for 7 years with all those questions. And I think when you wait it out, when you value yourself, when you want to find the partner who truly respects what you do, life is really worthwhile.”

Mawra offered a gentle pushback against the cultural hurry-up. Dressed in a soft tea-pink ensemble with delicate embroidery that matched the event’s warm vibe, she mixed light-humor with hard-earned perspective.

Mawra’s message, that waiting can be a deliberate act of self-respect rather than indecision, resonated with many who’ve felt rushed by relatives and social expectations.

Fans swarmed the comment, by seconding the Sabaat actress’ perspectives.

Mawra and fellow actor Ameer Gilani’s bond grew from on-set chemistry to real life. The pair shared that their paths crossed years earlier (even in university), and their professional reunion on the set of Sabaat helped nurture a deeper connection.

Albeit initially, there were many rumours to them dating, they constantly brushed them off and maintained their position as “good friends”.

However, it wasn’t until February 5, 2025, that the Jama Taqseem actress surprised fans by uploading her Nikkah picture along with the Harvard Law graduate, with an intimate caption: “And in the middle of chaos…I found you.”
The Sabaat couple has been happily married since and resides in Islamabad.
