LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sought a comprehensive plan for generating energy from waste, saying that managing such a massive sanitation system is nothing short of a miracle.
During a meeting chaired by the CM on the “Suthra Punjab” initiative, it was decided that anyone who spreads garbage in Punjab will face fines.
The meeting also decided that sanitation vehicles in Punjab will now be eco-friendly electric vehicles.
Those littering in commercial areas or on roads will face strict legal action.
The CM said that a comprehensive sanitation system for cities and villages should have been established years ago. “We started from zero, but we are continuously improving the Suthra Punjab project. The public across the province is giving positive feedback on the good work being done,” she added.
