Pakistan’s film industry has achieved another major milestone on the international stage, securing its fourth significant global success this year.
At the Baku Cinema Breeze Film Festival, held in Azerbaijan from 7 to 10 December 2025, Pakistan made a strong presence.
During the festival, three Pakistani films were showcased, and on Pakistan Film Day, Welcome to the Punjab won the Best Audience Award.
The film is produced by Safdar Malik and directed by Shehzad Rafiq.
According to the Pakistani delegation, this award is a testament to the growing global influence of Pakistani cinema. Earlier in 2025, Pakistani films had already achieved notable recognition on several international platforms.
At the SCO Film Festival in China, the film Nayaab won the Best Jury Critics Award, while Deemak received the Best Editing Award. Similarly, at the Eurasia Film Festival in Russia, Pakistan’s renowned actor Sonya Hussain was honored with the Best Performance Award.
The ministry of information and broadcasting stated that the Digital, Media, and Film Policy body is playing a key role in effectively representing Pakistan on global platforms, promoting cultural diplomacy, and opening new avenues for international production.
The ministry described these recent achievements as a reflection of the rising quality and international reach of Pakistan’s creative sector.
The Pakistan Film Producers Association commended the efforts of Executive DG DEMP Samina Farzin, Director of Film Section Syeda Saira Raza, and Deputy Director Samia Channa, noting that their dedication contributed to Pakistan’s fourth consecutive global success.
