Non-bailable warrant issued for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Sohail Afridi

A district court in Islamabad on Thursday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi for failing to appear in a case related to alleged misleading statements against state institutions.

Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah heard the case, which was filed against Afridi for making allegations that allegedly tarnished the reputation of state institutions.

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) had registered the case under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).

NCCIA officials and the investigation officer appeared in court, while Afridi and his lawyer were absent. Earlier, on December 11, the court had issued bailable arrest warrants for the chief minister.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case until January 3.
