PTI submits lawyers’ list for Imran Khan meeting at Adiala Jail

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has provided Adiala Jail authorities with a list of party lawyers who are scheduled to meet party founder Imran Khan on Tuesday.

According to sources, the lawyers included in the list are Salman Akram Raja, Chaudhry Owais, Younis Ali Zaman, Waqas Raza, Sofia Noreen, and Malik Faraz. They are expected to hold a legal consultation with Imran Khan during the permitted meeting hours.

In addition to the legal team, Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan and other family members are also expected to visit him at the jail today.

It is worth noting that Tuesdays are officially designated for meetings between Imran Khan, his legal counsel, and family members at Adiala Jail, as per jail regulations. The visit comes amid ongoing legal proceedings involving the PTI founder.

Moreover, Religious scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza, recently released on bail after being detained in a high-profile blasphemy case, has shared insights into Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s life inside Adiala Jail.

Mirza told a private television channel that while Khan does not enjoy luxurious “palace-like” conditions, he does have access to news and updates from the outside world. The former prime minister reportedly receives two newspapers daily and has an LED television in his cell, allowing him to stay informed about national and international developments.

According to Mirza, Khan appeared highly frustrated during his time in jail—a reaction considered understandable after spending nearly two years behind bars. Khan was allocated six barracks, five for personal use and one for his attendant. He reportedly left his barrack twice a day for meals: breakfast at 9am and lunch at 3pm. The attendant prepares meals with desi ghee, whose aroma spreads across the jail, Mirza noted.

The scholar also described Khan as expressive in moments of anger, speaking loudly and continuously, which drew attention from fellow inmates. These revelations have reignited discussions about the conditions and privileges of the PTI chief at Adiala Jail.

Mirza’s comments follow his own bail release by the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court in December 2025. He was granted bail in a case alleging blasphemy, filed by the Federal Investigation Agency’s Cyber Crime Wing, after submitting surety bonds of Rs500,000 each.

Meanwhile, PTI has raised concerns over Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi’s treatment in jail. Last month, the party wrote to the Senate chairman demanding a parliamentary committee to investigate what it called solitary confinement and violation of fundamental rights. The letter named senators Ali Zafar, Hamid Khan, Azam Swati, and Mishal Azam for the proposed committee.
