UKPNP calls for continued dialogues to solve Kashmir issue

The United Kashmir People’s National Party (UKPNP) has strongly urged the Joint Action Committee to continue dialogue as the only peaceful, responsible, and effective means of resolving the long-standing political, economic, and governance-related issues confronting the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing an online meeting of the party, the Central Spokesman of UKPNP, Sardar Nasir Aziz Khan, emphasised that the movement led by the Joint Awami Action Committee has so far remained peaceful, legitimate, and rooted in the genuine grievances of the local population.

“The struggle of the Joint Awami Action Committee is peaceful in nature and aimed at securing the fundamental rights of the people,” he said. “Walking away from dialogue at this stage would be counterproductive and could harm the broader public interest.”

The Central Spokesman stressed that dialogue must not be abandoned under any circumstances, as it remains the sole constructive path forward. He called for the immediate resumption of talks and urged the authorities to issue formal notifications on those matters where consensus has already been achieved, so that the people can begin to benefit without further delay.

Following detailed deliberations, leaders of the UKPNP unanimously endorsed the continuation of dialogue until all outstanding issues are resolved. At the same time, they cautioned that no action should be taken that risks disorder, instability, or provides any justification for the use of force against peaceful civilians.

“Violence in any form will only deepen suffering and undermine legitimate demands,” Sardar Nasir Aziz Khan said. “A firm commitment to non-violence must remain central to all actions and decisions.”

The UKPNP also reiterated the urgent need to expand democratic and civic space for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The party noted that for decades, India and Pakistan have divided the State and denied its people their fundamental rights, including the right to reunification and freely determine their political future. These injustices, the party stressed, cannot be resolved through unilateral decisions or imposed arrangements.

“Any unilateral or bilateral decisions taken by the occupying powers, without the consent of the people, will not be acceptable,” the Central Spokesman stated. “The division of Jammu and Kashmir, the separation of families, denial of the right to life, dignity, and development, and the continued marginalisation of the people are fundamental issues that must be addressed through principled and peaceful engagement.”

United Kashmir People’s National Party reiterates that all State Subject holders are equal citizens of the State of Jammu and Kashmir.

UKPNP expresses serious concern over ongoing violations of the State Subject Rule of 1927. These violations undermine the legal and political rights of the people of the state.

UKPNP demands the immediate cancellation of all forged and fake State Subject certificates. This issue requires urgent action to protect the lawful status and rights of genuine State Subject holders.

The UKPNP further emphasised that no red line should be crossed. There must be:

  • No violence, No division of Jammu and Kashmir,
  • No accession of any kind, No actions that escalate tensions or invite repression.

The party also underlined that contentious political and constitutional matters require sensitivity, wisdom, and sustained dialogue, while areas of agreement should be implemented without delay to build trust and confidence.

In conclusion, the UKPNP reaffirmed its principled position that the people of Jammu and Kashmir must have the final and decisive say in determining their political future.

“Peace, democracy, and justice are not achieved through force or coercion,” Sardar Nasir Aziz Khan said. “They can only be secured through dialogue, restraint, and respect for the will of the people.”

Let there be no misunderstanding, Sardar Nasir Aziz Khan said. “Peaceful dialogue is our chosen path, but it must not be mistaken for silence or weakness. No division of Jammu and Kashmir, no accession of any kind, and no use of force against peaceful people can ever be acceptable. The future of Jammu and Kashmir cannot be decided by unilateral, bilateral deals, coercion, or expediency. It belongs to its people alone, and they must have the final and decisive say.”
