The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore convened a high-level meeting to review measures taken for the recovery of illegally occupied state land across Punjab and to finalize a future roadmap for restoring such land to government ownership.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Chairman NAB Sohail Nasir along with Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman. Senior officials from the Board of Revenue, NAB Lahore, Advocate General Punjab, and Directors of NAB regional offices participated in the meeting.

During the briefing, it was revealed that as a result of coordinated efforts and an effective strategy, state land measuring approximately 15,667,577 kanals has been recovered, mutated in favor of the government, or identified for resumption. The estimated financial value of the recovered land stands at Rs. 4.37 trillion.
The participants acknowledged the successful recovery of a substantial volume of land from illegal occupants. The meeting resolved that the retrieved land will be formally restored to government ownership and utilized for public welfare projects.
It was further agreed to strengthen legal actions against land grabbers, ensure continuous institutional vigilance, and improve transparent land record management systems to prevent future encroachments.
Deputy Chairman NAB conveyed appreciation from the Chairman NAB to the Chief Secretary Punjab and the Senior Member Board of Revenue for their cooperation in protecting state assets
