Nearly 1 million Afghans repatriated from Pakistan

The repatriation of illegal Afghan nationals through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) continues, with nearly one million individuals returned to Afghanistan, according to the provincial Department of Interior and Tribal Affairs.

As of now, a total of 988,812 Afghan nationals have been repatriated. Among them, 230,470 were holders of Proof of Registration (PoR) cards, 71,570 held Afghan Citizen Cards, while 686,772 were undocumented migrants without official papers.

On the previous day alone, 2,312 Afghan nationals were sent back via the Torkham border. This included 1,522 PoR cardholders, 277 Afghan Citizen Card holders, and 513 undocumented individuals.

Authorities have emphasized that the repatriation process is ongoing and being carried out in accordance with government directives. The movement aims to ensure orderly return while maintaining border security and documenting Afghan nationals for future tracking.

Earlier, Law enforcement agencies arrested 11 Afghan nationals during a late-night security operation near the Sindh–Punjab border, aimed at curbing illegal movement and strengthening border monitoring.

According to police officials, the operation was carried out by personnel of the Ubauro Police Station on Tuesday night as part of routine security checks in sensitive border areas. During the operation, police stopped and searched several suspicious individuals.

Upon verification, the 11 individuals failed to produce national identity cards, passports, or any valid travel and residency documents. Preliminary investigations confirmed that they were Afghan nationals staying in the area without legal authorization.
