KP govt on board on military operation in province, says Talal Ch

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry said on Tuesday that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government was on board on the military operation being carried out against militants in the provincel.

Speaking in the National Assembly, Talal Chaudhry said it was a practice that operations were carried out by taking all stakeholders into confidence.

He, however, accused the KP government of creating doubts about the National Action Plan (NAP) in the minds of the people despite the fact that it was the job of provincial governments to implement the plan. “Let me recall that it was during the PTI government that a consensus had been reached on the NAP-II,” the minister said.

He made it clear that no leniency would be shown towards militants. “There can be no negotiations with those shedding blood of civilians and security forces’ personnel,” Talal said categorically.

He further said that the PTI had been ruling the KP for the last 14 years. “But what change the party has brought about in the province,” he asked.

The minister asked the KP government why it did not make Peshawar and other cities of the province safe cities. “Why don’t you build a forensic lab in the province?” he questioned.

The PTI, he went on to say, was only good at politicizing issues. “Its performance in the province is nil,” he claimed.

Talal said forces were giving sacrifices to save the province being run by a political party’s ‘incompetent’ government.

He also lamented that KP CM Sohail Afridi did not attend meetings convened to discuss important national issues.

The minister said that so far Rs115 billion had been given to the KP government for development schemes. “Rs5,867 billion have been given to the provincial government from November 2010 to November 2025,” he said, adding that Rs704 billion had been given to the merged districts as well.

Talal said that the PTI leaders said that the KP chief minister was very educated person. “You people would even call Usman Buzdar Wasim Akram Plus,” he reminisced.

Responding to the points raised by Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Talal said the National Action Plan against terrorism is being implemented with the support and consultations of provincial governments. He said dozens of intelligence-based operations are being carried out on daily basis.

Referring to the sacrifices of security forces in the war on terrorism, he categorically stated that there would be no hiatus in the action against terrorists.
