Bad Bunny turns Super Bowl halftime into a Puerto Rican love letter

Bad Bunny delivered a culturally rich and high-octane Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, turning Levi’s Stadium into a celebration of Puerto Rican identity, music and pride — capped by surprise appearances from Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin and a nod to reggaeton legend Daddy Yankee.

Dressed in a crisp white suit, the global superstar opened with “Tití Me Preguntó,” moving through vivid scenes of Puerto Rican life, from farmers in traditional pava hats to domino games and boxing rings. He followed with “Voy a Llevarte Pa’ PR,” setting the tone for a performance rooted deeply in heritage.

The show shifted to a secondary stage dubbed “La Casita,” where Bad Bunny powered through “Safaera,” Daddy Yankee’s iconic “Gasolina,” and his own hit “EoO,” drawing thunderous reactions from the crowd.

One of the night’s biggest moments came during a theatrical wedding segment featuring the beloved La Rana Concho, when Lady Gaga emerged to perform “Baile Inolvidable.” The duo then transitioned into “New York,” a subtle nod to Bad Bunny’s recent Grammy success.

Ricky Martin later joined the spectacle for “Lo Que Le Pasó a Hawai,” as Bad Bunny raised the Puerto Rican flag and delivered a visually striking performance of “El Apagón.” The stadium lit up for “Café Con Ron,” before the show closed with a powerful message on screen: “The only thing more powerful than hate is love,” followed by the title track from his Grammy-winning album “Debí Tirar Más Fotos.”

The performance marked a landmark moment for Latin music on the Super Bowl stage, reinforcing reggaeton’s place in mainstream American culture. It followed last year’s record-setting halftime show by Kendrick Lamar, which drew more than 130 million viewers.

Bad Bunny’s selection as halftime headliner, however, sparked criticism from U.S. President Donald Trump and conservative voices, citing the artist’s outspoken stance on U.S. immigration policy.
