The former superintendent of Adiala Jail, Abdul Ghafoor Anjum, arranged 25 medical check-ups for former prime minister Imran Khan during his one-and-a-half-year tenure.
According to official details, medical monitoring of the PTI founder continued regularly throughout his incarceration. Authorities said multiple consultations were conducted by both jail and external doctors to address his health concerns.
On August 29, 2025, Imran Khan complained of reduced eyesight for the first time. Following the complaint, Dr. Arif, head of the ophthalmology department at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), examined his eyes. The examination was carried out to assess the nature and severity of the issue.
Sources said his eye condition was reviewed again in January. Two separate examinations were conducted that month to monitor progress and provide further medical advice.
It was also stated that on January 16, the day Abdul Ghafoor Anjum stepped down as superintendent, he arranged another medical check-up for Imran Khan. A three-member medical team from PIMS visited and conducted a detailed examination before the officer handed over charge.
The clarification comes at a time when leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have expressed serious concerns about the health of their party founder. PTI leaders have alleged negligence on the part of the former jail superintendent regarding medical care.
