Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz said on Saturday that 100 percent katcha area in Rajanpur had now been cleared of dacoits and at the moment Punjab is a terrorism-free provine.
Speaking at a high-level meeting, the chief minister said that the writ of the state had been restored in the katcha area of the province. “No leniency will be shown towards those challenging the state’s writ,” she said, adding that now there were no safe havens for the dacoits of katcha area. “These people had made a state within the state.”
CM Maryam claimed that Punjab was presently a terrorism-free province. “Over 500 terrorists have laid down their arms,” she said, adding there was no loss of lives on the side of the police during the operation.
She said she also wanted to thank the Sindh government and the provincial police for their cooperation. “Pakistan Army, too, assisted the Punjab Police in the operation.”
The chief minister further said that for the first time in 30 years, recruitments were made in the Border Military Police. “Women were also recruited in the Force,” she informed.
Maryam Nawaz said that writ of the state will be restored and public’s life and property will be protected at any cost.
Maryam Nawaz said a decisive operation was launched in Kactha area in Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur and intelligence based actions were taken against criminals.
She expressed gratitude to Pak Army and Police force for the success of the operation.
The Chief Minister said nearly 500 criminal elements surrendered before the authorities during the operation. She said there is no leniency for those who challenge the writ of the state.
