Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in a phone call on Saturday. They discussed the evolving regional situation. They also reviewed forthcoming international engagements.
The Foreign Office said the leaders agreed to maintain close contact. This will allow both countries to coordinate their positions on regional developments. The call reflects ongoing diplomatic engagement between Islamabad and Riyadh.
This was the second conversation between the two ministers in the same week. Dar had also spoken to Faisal bin Farhan shortly after returning from Beijing. During that call, they deliberated on recent events in the region. Earlier, on December 30, 2025, the two had exchanged views on the current situation and regional developments.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share a multifaceted relationship. It is rooted in strategic military cooperation, economic interests, and shared Islamic heritage. Riyadh has been a key partner for Islamabad. The kingdom has provided financial assistance and energy supplies, including oil.
In September 2025, the two countries signed a landmark mutual defence agreement. Under this pact, an attack on one country is considered an attack on both. The agreement further strengthened their strategic and military ties.
Officials said the latest call highlights the importance of regular communication. Both sides are committed to coordinating on regional and international matters. The discussion also signals a continued alignment of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on security and diplomacy in South Asia and the Middle East.
