After prolonged efforts by the party leadership to secure a meeting with the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Friday met Chief Justice Yahya Afridi at the Supreme Court and discussed the request for shifting PTI founder Imran Khan to a hospital, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to sources, the meeting focused on concerns regarding the health of the PTI founder and the party’s request for his transfer to a medical facility. Barrister Gohar reportedly informed the chief justice that there was visible anxiety within the party ranks, among supporters and within the family over Imran Khan’s health condition.
Sources said Chief Justice Yahya Afridi responded that the judicial order on the matter was clear and that if any issue existed, the appropriate forum was the high court.
The CJP added that related appeals were already pending before the high court and that the Supreme Court could not intervene while those proceedings were underway.
Earlier, on February 24, 2026, 24NewsHD TV channel reported that Barrister Gohar had expressed serious reservations over the manner in which a medical examination of Imran Khan was conducted.
Speaking to the media at the time, Gohar said the PTI leadership had not been informed by the government about the late-night medical examination carried out at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS),.
He stated that the government neither shared prior information regarding the transfer of Imran Khan to PIMS nor about his subsequent return to Adiala Jail.
Barrister Gohar demanded that any medical check-up of the PTI founder should be conducted at Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital or another reputable facility, in the presence of family members and family doctors to ensure transparency.
