Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas strongly condemned the attack on Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, saying the nation’s hearts are deeply hurt by the incident.
The remarks were made during a Senate session chaired by Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani. At the start of the meeting, Fateha was offered for Ayatollah Khamenei, and the prayers were led by Raja Nasir Abbas.
Addressing the Senate, the opposition leader criticised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, claiming that he aims to create a “Greater Israel.” He said Pakistan has always stood against the oppression of Palestinians and has taken a clear position on the issue.
Speaking about the wider regional conflict, Raja Nasir Abbas alleged that despite repeated Israeli actions, the international community remains silent. He further criticised the United States leadership, saying global powers often overlook Israeli actions while targeting others.
Referring to past nuclear negotiations, he said Iranian leaders, including Ruhollah Khomeini and Ayatollah Khamenei, had maintained that Iran would not develop atomic weapons. He also mentioned US President Donald Trump, accusing him of withdrawing from the nuclear agreement.
Raja Nasir Abbas claimed that the attack targeted Ayatollah Khamenei’s office and resulted in his martyrdom along with members of his family. He added that powerful nations often act in their own interests and do not tolerate strategic threats near their borders, while expecting others to remain silent.
