Saudi Arabia warns Iran it would be ‘greatest loser’ amid attacks

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned Iran’s recent attacks on the kingdom and other Gulf, Arab, and Islamic nations, calling them “heinous” and a threat to regional stability.

The ministry also dismissed Iran’s justifications for the strikes, warning that continued aggression would harm Tehran’s interests and escalate tensions further.

The ministry highlighted that Iran’s attacks on civilian infrastructure, including airports and oil facilities, are clear violations of international law.

“These actions indicate nothing other than a determination to threaten security and stability and constitute a flagrant violation of international charters and international law,” the ministry said.

Riyadh rejects Iran’s claims

Iran had attempted to justify its actions by alleging that Saudi Arabia allowed fighter jets and refueling aircraft to operate from its territory for the war effort.

Saudi officials clarified that these aircraft were conducting routine aerial patrols to protect Saudi and GCC airspace from Iranian missiles and drones, rejecting Tehran’s narrative as false.

Warning of escalation

The ministry cautioned that continued Iranian attacks would signify a “further escalation” and could severely impact current and future diplomatic relations.

“We emphasize that Iran’s current actions toward our nations do not reflect wisdom or an interest in avoiding the expansion of the cycle of escalation, in which Iran would be the greatest loser,” the statement added.
