Iran lists Google, Microsoft among new war targets

Iran-linked media has released a list of international technology companies whose offices and infrastructure could be considered potential targets if the ongoing regional conflict escalates further. The announcement comes as tensions continue to rise following the widening confrontation involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

The report, published by the IRGC-affiliated Tasnim News Agency, stated that companies whose technology has allegedly been used for military applications connected to Israel may now fall within what it described as “legitimate targets.” The list includes major global firms such as Google, Microsoft, Palantir Technologies, IBM, Nvidia and Oracle Corporation.

According to the report, facilities linked to these companies — particularly cloud service infrastructure — are located in several Israeli cities as well as some Gulf states. Iranian sources suggested that the scope of potential targets could expand as the conflict evolves into what they described as an “infrastructure war.”

Meanwhile, the conflict in the Middle East continues to intensify. Iran launched fresh strikes across the region early Wednesday, including drone attacks reportedly targeting a Saudi oil field. The developments have heightened fears over global energy supply disruptions.

The confrontation began after US and Israeli strikes on Iranian sites in late February. Iran later responded with missile and drone attacks against regional targets linked to US and Israeli interests. The conflict has since spread across multiple countries in the region.

Energy markets have reacted sharply to the escalation. Rising tensions and threats to shipping routes have pushed global oil prices higher, forcing several countries to consider emergency measures. The International Energy Agency is reportedly discussing the possibility of releasing a large amount of oil from strategic reserves to stabilize global markets.

Leaders of the Group of Seven are scheduled to hold a virtual meeting to address the economic consequences of the crisis, particularly the impact on global energy supplies.

The strategic Strait of Hormuz has also become a major focus of the conflict. The United States said it carried out operations against Iranian vessels suspected of preparing to lay naval mines in the area. The waterway is one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes and handles a large portion of global energy shipments.

Military operations have continued in several locations across the region. Israeli strikes were reported in Beirut and Tehran, while explosions were also heard in parts of the Gulf where air defence systems intercepted incoming missiles.

In Lebanon, several people were reported killed and wounded after airstrikes hit areas around Beirut and southern regions. Reports also indicated that Israeli drones and warplanes targeted multiple locations across the country.
