KP announces work-from-home Fridays, advances spring break

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a work-from-home policy for employees as part of a wide austerity drive meant to cut fuel use and soften the economic strain linked to the ongoing war in the Middle East, it was reported on Tuesday.

Under the new decision, all provincial government offices will operate entirely from home every Friday for a period of two months as part of efforts to conserve fuel and promote responsible governance.

The provincial government also decided to begin spring vacations in all public and private educational institutions from March 24, in a move aimed at reducing transport-related fuel consumption.

Officials said the educational closure would have only a limited impact, effectively affecting just four working days, as Friday to Sunday are already regular holidays for many institutions.

The government clarified that examinations conducted by educational boards and universities would continue as scheduled and would not be affected by the revised holiday arrangements.
