Jazz, Zong starts rolling out 5G services across major cities in Pakistan

Jazz and Zong have formally launched their 5G services in Pakistan, marking a significant step toward next-generation connectivity in the country.

In the initial phase, Jazz has activated 5G services at around 180 sites, covering Islamabad and all four provincial capitals—Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta—along with major cities including Rawalpindi, Multan, and Faisalabad.

The company said it is simultaneously expanding and upgrading its nationwide 4G network to improve speed and service quality for users. Following the recent spectrum auction, Jazz has acquired multiple bands, including 700 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2600 MHz, and 3500 MHz, making it the only operator with a presence across all key spectrum layers.

Meanwhile, Zong has also accelerated its 5G rollout, announcing the commercial launch of services in more than 16 cities. The company plans to install over 1,000 5G sites by 2026.

Zong said its trials have achieved speeds exceeding 1.4 Gbps, with 5G technology expected to significantly enhance internet speed, connectivity, and user experience. The rollout is also likely to boost online gaming, ultra-high-definition streaming, and digital services.

Officials from both companies highlighted that 5G technology will play a crucial role in Pakistan’s industrial and economic development, with advanced networks powered by artificial intelligence expected to deliver improved services to customers.
