Punjab survey highlights strong public backing for Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE: The Institute for Public Opinion Research has released a survey report based on the two-year performance of the Punjab government.

According to the public opinion survey, 69 percent of people expressed satisfaction with the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and described Punjab’s development as progress in the right direction.

In the survey, 32 percent of respondents rated the performance of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz as “outstanding,” while 31 percent called it “good.”

According to the IPOOR survey, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has secured 42 percent public popularity in Punjab.

The launch of development projects has further increased the Chief Minister’s popularity, while 55 percent of respondents said they would vote for Maryam Nawaz Sharif based on performance.

The survey shows that the “Suthra Punjab” program of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz remained on top with 33 percent preference.

During the two-year period, women welfare and protection stood at 30 percent, public transport at 29 percent, and education at 27 percent as key sectors of improvement.

Meanwhile, 26 percent of respondents described law and order as improved, while 25 percent viewed infrastructure positively.

The survey included responses from 7,000 citizens, assessing public sentiment, governance performance, and political trends, with equal participation of 50 percent men and 50 percent women.

It also found that 69 percent of individuals aged between 18 to 40 expressed positive views.

The survey evaluated improvements in sanitation systems, health and education reforms, inflation relief measures, public transport, and the revival of Basant.

Overall, 65 percent of respondents said Punjab is moving in the right direction, while 56 percent expressed satisfaction with sanitation and municipal services.

The survey sample included 57 percent participants from rural areas and 43 percent from urban regions.
