Aleema Khanum alleges false cases, raises concerns over court proceedings and Imran Khan’s health

Aleema Khanum on Tuesday alleged that multiple false cases were being registered against her family and party members, while raising concerns over judicial proceedings and the health condition of Imran Khan.

Speaking to the media at a checkpoint outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, she claimed that legal hurdles were being deliberately created, saying special judges were being assigned to courts where their cases were scheduled, but hearings were not taking place.

She questioned why courts, including the Islamabad High Court, had not heard cases involving Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi for over a year and a half, adding that hearings should be conducted in accordance with the law.

Aleema Khanum also criticised what she described as changing legal tactics, alleging that new procedures were being introduced frequently, including directing lawyers to pursue appeals instead of hearings. She noted that senior lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan had attempted to appear in court despite illness.

Addressing Imran Khan’s health, she said his eyesight had deteriorated significantly. Citing medical consultations at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), she claimed that doctors had indicated long-term damage and stressed the need for a thorough diagnosis and proper treatment. She alleged that he was being taken to hospital briefly for injections without comprehensive care.

She further claimed that delays in timely and appropriate treatment had caused serious damage to his vision, adding that requests had been made for detailed medical tests.

Aleema Khanum also said an application had been submitted to register a case against a former jail superintendent, who she claimed was now untraceable.

Criticising the broader political situation, she alleged that the system was being manipulated to keep the PTI founder incarcerated, questioning the credibility of the current government and calling for his release before any peace talks.
