China extends full support to Pakistan’s efforts for US-Iran peace deal

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar in Islamabad on Tuesday and discussed a range of issues with him.

According to a Foreign Office statement released in Islamabd, the discussions were focused on latest regional developments.

Ambassador Zaidong conveyed China’s full support for and appreciation of Pakistan’s continued efforts to facilitate engagement between the United States and Iran for sustained peace and stability in the region and beyond.

Ishaq Dar reaffirmed the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, underscored the strength of bilateral ties, and emphasized the importance of sustained high-level exchanges between the two countries.

It may be mentioned here that US President Donald Trump had publicly credited China with persuading Iran to accept a two-week ceasefire before the first round of peace talks in Islamabad.

While Beijing confirmed support for the truce, it has downplayed its role, even as analysts see strategic motives tied to energy security and upcoming US-China talks.

The move positions China as a quiet but potentially influential player in Middle East diplomacy, with long-term implications for regional stability and great power relations.
