Pakistan NSC rejects India’s allegations, reaffirms strong response to any aggression

Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) has taken a firm and decisive position in response to recent Indian actions following the Pahalgam incident, declaring that any attempt to undermine Pakistan’s sovereignty, security, or national interests will be met with a strong and effective response.

An emergency meeting of the NSC was convened on April 24, 2025, following the developments that unfolded after the April 22 incident in Pahalgam. The high-level session reviewed the prevailing security situation, regional developments, and the implications of India’s recent statements and actions.

According to official sources, the committee carried out a comprehensive assessment of the national security environment and expressed serious concern over what it described as India’s unilateral and unjustified measures announced on April 23. The forum termed these actions legally baseless and politically motivated, stressing that such steps could further destabilize the already fragile regional peace.

The NSC reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding and principled support for the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with United Nations resolutions. It observed that the ongoing unrest and public reaction in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir are rooted in longstanding human rights violations and political suppression.

The committee firmly rejected attempts to associate Pakistan with the Pahalgam incident without what it called credible, transparent, and verifiable evidence. It stated that internal security failures and law and order challenges within India are its own responsibility and should not be used as a basis for making baseless accusations against Pakistan.

The forum emphasized that Pakistan has always condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and remains fully committed to regional peace and stability. It added that linking Pakistan to such incidents without proof is not only irresponsible but also harmful to efforts aimed at maintaining peace in South Asia.

The NSC also expressed concern over hostile narratives and inflammatory rhetoric emerging from across the border, warning that such behavior could lead to unnecessary escalation. It called for restraint, maturity, and responsible state conduct to prevent further tensions in the region.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s readiness to defend its sovereignty, the committee stated that the country’s armed forces and institutions remain fully prepared to respond to any threat or misadventure. It made clear that the protection of the nation’s people and territorial integrity remains the highest priority.

The committee further highlighted the strategic importance of water security, describing Pakistan’s water resources as a vital national interest. It warned that any attempt to disrupt or deny Pakistan’s rightful share of water would be viewed with utmost seriousness and responded to accordingly.
