Pak Army thwarts Khawarij plot, responds firmly to Afghan fire

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: The Pakistan Army has thwarted an infiltration attempt in the Angoor Adda area of South Waziristan, security sources said on Sunday, adding that a strong retaliatory response was launched after Afghan forces allegedly targeted civilians along the border.

According to officials, militants identified as “Fitna al-Khawarij” attempted to incite unrest and cross into Pakistani territory. Security forces responded swiftly, foiling the infiltration bid and securing the area.
Sources further stated that following the failed attempt, Afghan forces opened fire toward the civilian population in the Angoor Adda and Zalul Khel areas. As a result, three civilians — including two women — sustained injuries and were shifted to Wana Hospital for medical treatment.

Security officials described the alleged targeting of civilians as unprovoked and said Pakistan forces responded firmly. In the exchange, several Afghan border posts were reportedly destroyed.
Authorities said the situation remains under close monitoring, reiterating that any aggression against civilian populations would be met with a decisive response.
