Protests against hike in petroleum prices held in several cities

Workers of Jamaat-e-Islami held protest demonstrations in in several cities on Friday against the hike in petroleum prices in the country.

Jamaat-e-Islami Afzal Ata Kulwar led the demonstration in Kashmore. The participants of the protest chanted slogans against the government.

The JI leaders said that increase in petroleum prices will directly affect the common mon. They said that current government willfully increasing the prices of petroleum products under the head of international conflicts.

Jamaat-e-Islami Amir said that due to wrong policies of the current government, prices of petroleum products reached to Rs400 per liter.

The JI workers said that people rejected recent hike in prices of petroleum products. They demanded the government to withdraw the increase immediately otherwise their protest will be expanded to other cities.

Jamaat-e-Islami workers also held a protest demonstration opposite Sukkur Press Club against the increase in prices of petroleum products.

They said that worsening law and order situation and street crimes already became a challenge for the administration and now government dropped petrol bomb on them.

They said that government officials should cut their expenditure for the sake of national economy instead putting burden on the common man.

Later, Qingqi drivers also staged a protest demonstration against increase in petroleum prices.

The protesters staged a sit-in and burnt the tryes in support of their demand. All the traffic on surrounding areas of Jinnah Bagh Chowk was suspended.

One rickshaw driver tried to commit self-immolation by throwing petrol on himself but timely intervention of his other colleagues safe the man.

Jamaat-e-Islami workers also held protest in Chiniot. The protest rally was started outside local office of Jamaatr-e-Islami. The workers demanded the government to immediately withdraw the recent hike in petroleum prices.
