Shakira thanks fans after record-breaking 2.5 million Rio concert

Global pop star Shakira has shared an emotional message after performing to an estimated 2.5 million people at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, calling the experience “unforgettable and breathtaking.”

The singer took to Instagram a day after the massive open-air concert, where she posted photos and videos from the historic event. She said she was overwhelmed by the scale of the crowd and the emotional energy of the night.

Shakira described the concert as a celebration of life and music, saying it reminded her of the importance of being present and appreciating simple moments such as the sea, the beach, and the natural beauty of Rio.

She expressed gratitude to her fans who travelled from across Brazil and other countries to attend the show, calling them part of a “family” that created history together.

The singer also thanked guest performers, local authorities including the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, and event sponsors for supporting the large-scale production.

The Copacabana performance was part of her ongoing Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour, which began in February 2025 in Brazil. The tour has drawn massive international attention due to its high-energy performances and large stadium and beach crowds.

Shakira is now set to resume her tour in June 2026 with a scheduled concert in California, continuing her global tour across major cities worldwide.
