Pakistan and Bangladesh ink MoU to counter drug smuggling, terrorism

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called on Bangladeshi Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed in Dhaka on Friday and discussed matters of bilateral cooperation. During the meeting, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Bangladesh and Pakistan for prevention of drug smuggling and combating menace of terrorism. The agreement is expected to play a major role in stopping the transnational drug trafficking ring and terrorist financing spread across South Asia.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed fight against transnational crime, intelligence sharing and cyber security.

Later Mohsin Naqvi arrived at the stadium. Bangladesh Cricket Board chief Tim Iqbal welcomes PCB Chairman. Naqvi watched the first Test match along with Bangladesh Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir. Meanwhile, discussions were also held on the occasion regarding the promotion of relations between the two countries, on the promotion of sports, especially cricket.

Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Bangladeshi capital Dhaka on a two-day official visit. On his arrival at Dhaka Airport, Mohsin Naqvi was warmly welcomed by Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Saaim, Interior Secretary Abu Naeem, and Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Cricket Board Nazmul Din welcomed him.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider was also present on this occasion.
