ISLAMABAD: Senior Rana Sanaullah has stated that both Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi are being provided with the best possible facilities and medical care, amid ongoing political debate over access to the jailed PTI founder.
Speaking during a Senate session, the PML-N senator said he had recently met Imran Khan and discussed his health condition. He maintained that such meetings are governed strictly by law and cannot be used for political messaging. Commenting on the broader political climate, he remarked that failed political efforts are often labelled treason, while successful ones are celebrated as revolutions.
Sanaullah further criticised what he described as repeated attacks on the federation, alleging that a persistent anti-state narrative had been built by certain quarters. He said he would present evidence to support his claims, though he did not elaborate during the session.
Meanwhile, in the National Assembly, Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai called on the government to clarify when he would be allowed to meet the PTI founder and whether arrangements would be made to shift him to a hospital of his choice.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan echoed Achakzai’s concerns, expressing full support for the opposition leader’s demands. He said his party had approached the Supreme Court 15 times and the High Court 24 times but had failed to secure relief. He also claimed that even basic access to inquire about Imran Khan’s condition had been restricted.
The exchange reflects continuing tensions between the government and the opposition over the treatment, access and legal rights of the former prime minister, whose incarceration remains a focal point of Pakistan’s political discourse.
