Iran says it seeks stability in Gulf region

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Tehran does not consider the United Arab Emirates or any other country in the region an enemy, stressing that Iran wants stability and cooperation across the Gulf.

Speaking during a press conference, Baghaei confirmed that diplomatic engagement between Iran and the United States continues through Pakistani mediation efforts. He explained that both Tehran and Washington have already responded to Iran’s latest proposal as discussions move forward.

According to Baghaei, Iran’s key demands in negotiations with the United States include the release of frozen Iranian assets and the removal of economic sanctions imposed on the country. He argued that Washington now understands that threats and economic pressure cannot prevent Iran from pursuing what it considers its legitimate rights.

Baghaei also emphasized that Iran remains prepared to defend itself against any hostile actions, but said the government’s immediate priority is preventing further conflict and working toward an end to regional tensions.

The spokesperson revealed that Iranian and Omani technical teams met in Oman last week to discuss maritime security and safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes. He added that Iran continues to stay in close contact with Oman and other relevant parties to develop mechanisms that ensure secure passage through the strategic waterway.
