Islamabad High Court directed Superintendent Adiala Jail to get signs of founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on power of attorney during a hearing on appeals against the conviction of founder PTI and Bushra Bibi in the Al-Qadir Trust case, it was reported on Wednesday.
Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court Sarfaraz Dogar remarked that the lawyers of the founder and Bushra Bibi should start arguments at the next hearing, and if arguments are not started, the law will take its course.
Salman Safdar has expressed his inability to immediately pursue appeals for physical examination abroad.
Advocate Salman Akram Raja, while presenting an application on behalf of Salman Safdar, took a stand that Salman Safdar is facing an eye disease, on which Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar said that if Salman Safdar is not available, a new lawyer should start the arguments.
In arguments, Salman Akram Raja pleaded that jail authorities are responsible for getting signs on power of attorney, but they are reluctant to do so.
The court remarked that then you should approach Federal Constitutional Court, telling the court the jail authorities are not allowing lawyers to get the signature of the founder of PTI.
Talking to the media outside the Supreme Court, Salman Akram Raja said that in a meeting with the Chief Justice, he requested to schedule the cases of the founder of the PTI.
According to him, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi has assured to schedule the cases after Eid.
Meanwhile, lawyers of the founding PTI and the PTI legal team raised slogans on the premises of the Islamabad High Court.
During this, the lawyers sat on the ground on the premises and kept raising protest slogans, which created tension in the atmosphere for some time.
