ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court has issued a written order in the ongoing appeals against the conviction in the 190 million pounds case.
The order was issued by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif in the case involving former prime minister and Imran Khan.
According to the court order, defence lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar sought adjournment on medical grounds, stating that he is suffering from a retinal eye condition.
The court noted that the appellant’s counsel had already been given a final opportunity to present arguments during the previous hearing.
It further directed that if the defence counsel is again unavailable due to medical reasons at the next hearing, the appellant must appoint an alternative lawyer.
The court warned that in the absence of an alternative counsel, the appeal may be decided on the basis of available record and law.
The order also issued instructions to the Superintendent of Adiala Jail regarding the processing of legal authorization documents.
It directed that all legal formalities be completed and the authorization documents be promptly returned to the lawyer.
The court further instructed all concerned authorities to ensure strict compliance with its directions.
The Islamabad High Court has fixed the next hearing of the case for June 18, 2026.
