Lawyers strike back: Quetta blast sparks court boycott and nationwide outrage

QUETTA: A suicide blast near the railway track at Chaman Phatak in Quetta has left at least 14 people martyred and several others injured. The powerful explosion also caused severe damage to nearby residential houses, plazas, parked vehicles, and other properties.

Rescue teams and security forces rushed to the site immediately after the incident. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals, where emergency treatment is underway.

Local residents strongly condemned the attack, stating that militants allegedly backed by hostile elements are trying to destabilize peace in Balochistan. They described the targeting of civilians, workers, and passengers as a brutal and inhumane act aimed at spreading fear and chaos.

In protest against the incident, the Balochistan High Court Bar Association and the legal community announced a complete boycott of court proceedings. Lawyers did not appear in courts, suspending judicial activities.

High Court Bar President Mir Attaullah Lango called the railway-track bombing a highly condemnable act and a grave example of inhuman terrorism.
