The Annual Planning Coordination Committee (APCC) is set to meet on June 1 to finalise recommendations for the federal development budget and economic plan for the fiscal year 2026-27, according to official sources.
Sources said the Ministry of Finance has proposed a ceiling of Rs1,126 billion for the federal development budget for FY2026-27. In addition to the federal allocation, each province will formulate and implement its own Annual Development Programme (ADP), aimed at addressing regional infrastructure and development priorities.
The APCC is expected to formulate recommendations for the broader annual economic plan, including targets for economic growth, inflation and sectoral performance.
Sources revealed that the economic growth target for the next fiscal year may be set at 4 percent or higher, reflecting the government’s efforts to sustain economic recovery and boost productive sectors.
Recommendations will also be prepared for key sectors of the economy, including agriculture, industry and services, which collectively drive national growth and employment.
Inflation management is also expected to remain a major focus of the deliberations. Sources said the committee may recommend an average inflation target ranging between 8.2 and 8.6 percent for FY2026-27, amid ongoing efforts to stabilise prices and maintain macroeconomic discipline.
The APCC will finalise its recommendations after reviewing proposals and suggestions submitted by relevant ministries and stakeholders. The meeting is also expected to undertake a review of the federal development budget and annual economic plan for the outgoing fiscal year to assess progress and implementation challenges.
Officials from the Ministry of Finance and the State Bank are likely to present their assessments and policy perspectives during the meeting, sources added.
The committee will further examine development budget allocations for all federal ministries and divisions to ensure alignment with national priorities and available fiscal resources.
Following finalisation, the APCC’s recommendations will be forwarded to the National Economic Council (NEC) for formal approval, paving the way for the presentation of the federal budget and economic agenda for FY2026-27.
