Jet fuel prices in Pakistan have been reduced significantly. The cut is expected to lower airline operating costs. It may also lead to a decrease in airfares.
According to aviation sources, the price of jet fuel for commercial aircraft has been reduced by Rs 48.80 per litre. After the latest revision, the new price stands at Rs 283.52 per litre.
Officials said the reduction is part of ongoing adjustments in fuel pricing. They said changes in global oil markets are directly impacting domestic fuel rates.
Sources added that the overall reduction in jet fuel prices has been substantial over time. It reflects multiple revisions made in recent months.
They also noted that before regional tensions in the Middle East, jet fuel was priced at Rs 188 per litre on February 28. Since then, prices have fluctuated significantly.
The latest cut comes shortly after the government reduced petrol and diesel prices. The reduction was Rs 22 per litre for both fuels. It was announced for a one-week period.
The Prime Minister’s Office had issued an official statement confirming the decision. It said the move was aimed at providing relief to consumers.
Industry experts say lower jet fuel prices could reduce airline expenses. They believe airlines may pass on the benefit to passengers in the form of cheaper tickets.
However, they also note that final fare adjustments will depend on airline policies and other operational costs.
Authorities continue to monitor international oil prices. They say further changes in fuel rates will depend on global market trends.
