PTI leader sent on 10-day remand in arson case

An Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore has granted a 10-day physical remand of PTI leader Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan. The case relates to alleged speeches and arson at Sherpao Bridge.

The hearing was conducted by ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gill. The court heard initial arguments before issuing the remand order.

The accused was presented before the court after completion of his identification parade. Police officials confirmed that the identification process had already been completed.

According to police reports, Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan has been positively identified in the case. Investigators said his role is being examined in connection with the incident.

Police stated that the case involves allegations of provocative speeches and acts of arson at Sherpao Bridge. They said further investigation is underway to determine the full scope of the incident and any additional suspects involved.

During the hearing, the court reviewed the police request for physical custody. After examining the record, the court approved a 10-day physical remand of the accused.

The court also directed police to present the accused again on June 13. Officials were instructed to complete investigation procedures within the given time frame.

Authorities said Dewan’s custody is required for further interrogation and evidence collection. The investigation team is expected to continue questioning him during the remand period.

Police sources added that the case is part of an ongoing investigation into incidents of unrest and violence linked to the Sherpao Bridge episode.

The case will be taken up again on the next hearing date as investigators submit their progress report to the court.
