The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has directed all concerned departments to ensure complete preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season across the province.
The instructions were issued by PDMA Director General Umar Javed while chairing a review meeting in Lahore. He stressed that all arrangements must be finalized in advance to deal with any possible emergency situation during heavy rains.
He said departments must remain alert and fully ready to respond to floods, urban flooding, and other monsoon-related risks. He emphasized that no negligence would be tolerated in preparedness measures.
The DG also instructed all relevant departments to submit detailed reports. These reports must include information about available machinery, rescue equipment, manpower, and other essential resources.
During the meeting, officials presented a detailed briefing on the Monsoon Preparedness Plan. The plan covered contingency arrangements, resource allocation, and emergency response strategies.
Officials also reviewed the availability of equipment and the readiness of response teams across different districts. Special focus was placed on areas that are historically vulnerable to flooding.
Umar Javed highlighted the importance of coordination between all departments. He said timely communication and joint response efforts are essential for effective disaster management.
He also directed authorities to strengthen early warning systems. He said alerts must be issued promptly to ensure public safety in risk-prone areas.
