Two more monkeypox cases reported in Lahore; yearly tally rises to 54

Two more cases of monkeypox have been reported in Lahore, taking the total number of infections recorded in the city this year to 54, health officials said on Tuesday.

According to medical experts, both newly reported patients are women and are currently undergoing treatment at Mayo Hospital.

Health experts said the latest cases appear to be locally transmitted, as neither patient has a history of foreign travel. They added that the recent infections indicate the virus continues to circulate within the local community.

The experts urged citizens to remain vigilant and seek medical advice if they develop symptoms associated with the disease.

They said people experiencing a high fever accompanied by a skin rash should take precautionary measures, avoid close contact with others, and quarantine themselves to help prevent the further spread of the virus.

Health authorities continue to monitor the situation and have advised the public to follow preventive guidelines to reduce the risk of infection.
