ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has reiterated the government’s commitment to attracting foreign investment in renewable energy, advanced technology, and infrastructure, saying Pakistan remains dedicated to providing a transparent, stable, and business-friendly environment for investors.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Kim Min-young, Chief Executive Officer of Korea South-East Power (KOEN), according to the Ministry of Commerce.
The meeting focused on South Korean investment in Pakistan’s hydropower sector, particularly the progress of ongoing projects in Swat. The KOEN delegation briefed the minister on the company’s investments and financing arrangements, highlighting work on the 229-megawatt Asrit Kedam Hydropower Project and the 238-megawatt Kalam Asrit Hydropower Project.
The delegation said financing of nearly $1 billion has already been secured for the two projects.
Jam Kamal Khan appreciated KOEN’s continued confidence in Pakistan’s investment climate and assured the company that the government would work closely with relevant institutions to facilitate foreign investors and help resolve any outstanding issues.
The South Korean delegation also expressed optimism that continued cooperation with the Pakistani government would help advance the hydropower projects further.
