LAHORE: Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni arrived in Lahore on Thursday on an official visit, where he was received by Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi.
Leading a high-level Iranian delegation, Momeni visited the mausoleum of national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal, where he offered Fateha and laid a floral wreath in tribute to the philosopher-poet, whose vision played a pivotal role in the creation of Pakistan.
The delegation was welcomed by Punjab Secretary for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Dr Ehsan Bhutta, who briefed the visiting dignitaries on the historical and architectural significance of the iconic Badshahi Mosque.
During their visit, the Iranian delegation also toured several historical landmarks in Lahore and expressed keen interest in Pakistan’s rich cultural and religious heritage.
Later, Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi accompanied his Iranian counterpart to the shrine of Hazrat Bibi Pak Daman (RA), where the two ministers offered prayers and sought peace, security, and prosperity for both Pakistan and Iran.
On the occasion, Naqvi briefed Momeni on the historical and religious significance of the revered shrine, which is one of Lahore’s prominent spiritual and historical sites.
The visit reflects the importance both sides attach to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting people-to-people contacts through shared historical and religious heritage.
