Punjab gifts 5,000 laptops for AJK students

The Government of Punjab has approved 5,000 laptops for students in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, with the provincial cabinet green-signalling the provision of the laptops to students of public-sector on the basis of merit, academic performance and institutional needs, it was reported on Saturday.

Under the initiative, the laptops will be distributed among students enrolled in public-sector educational institutions across Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The Punjab government will obtain student data from the relevant educational institutions to determine the distribution of the laptops.

The distribution formula will take into account the number of students, their academic performance and the needs of the respective educational institutions to determine how the laptops will be allocated.

Students studying at public-sector colleges and universities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir will be eligible to benefit from the laptop scheme.

Following approval by the Punjab cabinet, the Punjab government and the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government will finalize the procedure for supplying and distributing the 5,000 laptops.

The initiative aims to provide students in public-sector educational institutions in Azad Jammu and Kashmir with better access to modern technology and online educational facilities, supporting their academic activities and digital learning.
