ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision ordering that PTI founder Imran Khan, be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment within two days.
Speaking to the media at Parliament House, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said the party welcomed the Supreme Court ruling and called for Imran Khan to be transferred to the hospital without delay. He reiterated that PTI would fully comply with the court’s directions and asked party workers not to gather outside Shifa International Hospital.
Gohar said supporters should stay away from the hospital to ensure there was no disruption to Imran Khan’s treatment. He added that the party would never use the PTI founder’s health for political purposes.
He further said medical reports concerning Imran Khan’s health would not be used for personal interests. Gohar also called for former first lady Bushra Bibi’s medical needs to be addressed in a similar manner and for her to be provided with appropriate medical facilities.
PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja said the party would not politicise Imran Khan’s health under any circumstances. He said he had assured the apex court that PTI would not organise gatherings or create disorder outside the hospital.
Raja stressed that the party must honour its commitment to the court and urged supporters to remain peaceful and avoid any activity that could interfere with the treatment process.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also welcomed the development, expressing gratitude to God and calling for further decisions based on justice. He said PTI workers should not take any action that could amount to contempt of the court’s decision.
