Rs200m funds embezzlement detected in Lahore police training college

Details have emerged regarding the embezzlement of Rs200 million funds detected at the Chung Police Training College in Lahore, it was reported on Tuesday.

As per the inquiry report, RS169 million were embezzled under the heads of training fees, PERA, and customs. Rs31 million were embezzled from funds designated for meals and canteen income.

Funds amounting to Rs3.1 million were embezzled under the head of stationery and computer supplies, and Rs9 million under furniture and machinery.

Misappropriation occurred involving Rs250,000 for tea and coffee, Rs2.7 million for transport, and Rs1 million related to buildings.

After the conclusion of the inquiry, stern action was recommended against Deputy Superintendent of Police Shahid Javed and Accountant Khalid.

Action was also recommended against Inspector Mohammad Asghar for securing forged and fake signatures.

Subordinate officers were posted to roles such as Admin, Store In-charge, Buildings, and Stationery Clerk.

Contractor Yasir was running the training college like a personal business, acting as a frontman for DIG Mahboob Aslam Lilla.

Funds were secured by preparing forged documents and processing bills, according to the inquiry report.

The inquiry report stated that contractor Yasir Ayub would have bills prepared in the names of six different companies that he had personally established.

DSP Shahid Javed would also implement the Commandant’s illegal orders without question or resistance.

DIG Mahboob Aslam Lilla has been suspended in light of the inquiry report. DSP Shahid Javed has also been suspended.
