Overseas Employment Promoters Expert Adnan Paracha has said that the number of Pakistanis who travel abroad for employment purposes has declined due to the Gulf war, it was reported on Monday.
Adnan Paracha said that only 381,000 Pakistanis departed abroad for employment purposes during the first eight months of the current fiscal year 2026.
He said that over 700,000 people left for foreign countries for employment in fiscal year 20025.
Adnan Paracha said that the number of Pakistanis going abroad for employment is likely to reach 650,000 this year.
He said that the number of Pakistanis declined due to the Gulf war. He urged the federal government to take measures to enhance the overseas Pakistanis quota in Gulf countries.
Adnan Paracha said that overseas Pakistanis are a real asset of Pakistan as they remit Rs49 billion annually to Pakistan.
He said that foreign remittances are playing a vital role in tackling financial challenges. Foreign remittances also enhanced Pakistan’s foreign reserves.
In July, the current account deficit fell by thirty-eight percent compared with the previous year, to 328 million dollars.
