NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening longstanding relations between Pakistan and Egypt.
According to a statement from Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the two foreign ministers discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, investment and economic relations.
They also exchanged views on enhancing educational and cultural ties as well as people-to-people contacts.
The meeting also focused on regional and global developments, including the situation in the Middle East and Iran.
Both sides underscored the importance of dialogue, negotiations and diplomacy in resolving regional challenges.
Ishaq Dar stressed the need for all parties to ensure the full implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
The two sides also agreed on the importance of maintaining consultations under the regional framework.
Pakistan and Egypt further agreed to enhance communication and cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
They emphasized the importance of international cooperation and an effective multilateral system to address emerging global challenges.
