Preparations for the next review talks between Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are complete as negotiations between the two sides will kick off tomorrow, it was reported on Tuesday.
Sources told the 24News TV channel that the talks under the 37-month Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and climate financing programmes would continue simultaneously for the next two weeks.
Sources informed that the talks would review the second six-month performance of the last financial year.
If talks remained successful, they added, next tranches under both the programmes would be released; fifth tranche under the EFF.
So far, Pakistan has received $4.60 billion from the Fund under both the programmes.
It is pertinent to mention here that presently Pakistan is in two loan programmes with the IMF; $7 billion EFF programme and $1.40 billion climate financing programme.
The Executive Board of the IMF had on May 9, 2026 approved $1.32 billion financing for Pakistan under its Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF) programmes.
“The Fund’s Executive Board completed the third review of the Extended Arrangement under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and the second review of the arrangement under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), said a statement issued by the money-lending organization.
