Huddle on security situation: Govt convenes NA and Senate sessions on Oct 13

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on President Asif Ali Zardari at President House in Islamabad on Saturday to discuss the country’s overall political and security situation.

The Prime Minister was assisted in the meeting by Deputy Prime Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Senator Rana Sanaullah, Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar and Federal Minister Senator Ahad Cheema.

While PPP leaders Senator Sherry Rehman, Syed Naveed Qamar, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, and Dr. Asim assisted the President. During the meeting, it was agreed to convene separate sessions of the National Assembly and the Senate on Tuesday, October 13.

Earlier, sources said during the meeting, the participants hold consultations on the latest situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A comprehensive briefing was given to participants of the meeting about the security situation. The available constitutional options and meeting with the opposition were discussed in the meeting. Important decisions were taken during the meeting.
