Charging stations in Lahore hike electricity price to Rs100/unit

LAHORE: Owners of different electric vehicle charging stations in Lahore have increased the price of electricity from Rs90 to Rs100 per unit in Lahore, it was reported on Tuesday.

According to details, the owners of electric vehicle charging stations are purchasing electricity at the rate of Rs24 per unit and selling the same at Rs90 to Rs100.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has fixed the electricity tariff at Rs23.57 per unit for the charging stations.

All electric vehicle charging stations are exempted from taxes and duties.

It is worth mentioning that despite extremely low tariffs and the absence of taxes, charges have reached as high as Rs100 per unit.

The government did not set a sale price, aiming to foster a competitive market environment.

With no price fixed, owners of charging stations have begun charging arbitrary rates.
