Pakistani social media influencer Kanwal Aftab has urged local clothing brands to consider customers who prefer modest outfits, expressing frustration over the growing availability of revealing designs in the fashion industry.
The influencer recently shared a video on her social media accounts in which she addressed leading Pakistani fashion brands and called for more options featuring full-length cuts, longer sleeves and appropriate coverage.
Kanwal said customers should not have to compromise on their clothing preferences simply because brands are following modern fashion trends. She revealed that she had approached several well-known labels but was repeatedly told that customisation was not possible.
According to Kanwal, brands often refuse requests to add sleeves, extend the back or make other adjustments to their outfits. She said such restrictions leave customers with limited choices, particularly those who prefer traditional and modest clothing.
The influencer also rejected the perception that celebrities and social media personalities should automatically be comfortable wearing revealing outfits. She stressed that being an influencer does not mean abandoning personal clothing preferences.
Kanwal further pointed out that customers deserve consideration regardless of whether they choose to wear a dupatta. She urged designers to understand that Pakistan’s fashion market caters to people with different tastes, preferences and requirements.
She expressed disappointment over the increasing popularity of revealing cuts and asked clothing businesses to offer more variety instead of focusing on a single fashion trend.
Her remarks have attracted attention on social media, where several users have expressed agreement with her concerns. Many supported her demand for greater choice in Pakistani fashion and said brands should accommodate customers who prefer traditional and modest designs.
Kanwal has millions of followers across social media platforms and recently made headlines after reaching one billion likes on TikTok in Pakistan. She also performed Hajj with her husband, Zulqarnain Sikandar, in May 2026. Following the pilgrimage, she adopted a more modest style of dressing, including covering her head.
