AJK elections: Sh Rashid announces victory of ‘rickshaw driver’ on PTI ticket

RAWALPINDI: Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid today (Sunday) announced that even a  poor rickshaw driver” on PTI ticket has defeated his strong opponents in Azad Kashmir elections from Rawalpindi.

Speaking to the journalists outside Lal Haveli in Rawalpindi on Sunday, the interior minister brushed aside the rumours regarding the appointment of FC and Rangers during the AJK polls. “Being as the interior minister, I did not appoint any FC and Rangers. If anyone proves it, I am responsible. Our city has a tradition that we do not fight during the elections,” he added.

Predicting PM Imran Khan’s next government in AJK after victory in election, Sheikh Rashid said that Sindh should also be prepared for next. “One day PTI government will be formed in Sindh too,” he maintained.

He said that elections are easy in the big cities. “I had said in Lahore yesterday that I would announce the results at seven o clock. Imran Khan is going to do the world’s historical work in Pakistan.”

The minister further mentioned that he is going to expose fake identity cards from Rawalpindi, Lahore and Peshawar same like Karachi, adding that the city of Rawalpindi has proved that the people are with Imran Khan.

Sheikh Rashid said that he did not want to highlight figure of money spent in the election because it was an insult to democracy. He further said that the PTI has won Kashmir election from Rawalpindi with a poor man for the first time. “For stopping the rigging in election, Imran Khan already gave a suggestion to use the electronic machine,” he said.

PTI CLINCHES FOUR SEATS AS VOTE COUNT UNDERWAY IN HOTLY CONTESTED AJK ELECTIONS: Polling for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly has ended and counting of votes is currently underway, ARY News reported.

Unofficial and unconfirmed results of a large number of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly seats have been received as more are pouring in.

The polling started at 8 am and continued till 5 pm without any break. Over 40 thousand security personals including PAK Army, FC, Rangers & Police performed duties to ensure peaceful polling.

Unofficial results show that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has won four seats thus far and leading in 16 constituencies in Azad Jammu and Kashmir Elections 2021. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has so far won one seat.

Unofficial results of AJK elections 2021 are as follows:

LA-1 Mirpur I unofficial results

Unofficial results, preliminary results show PTI candidate Azhar Sadiq is in the lead with 753 votes. PML-N’s Chaudhry Masood Khalid has so far secured 202 votes.

LA-2 Mirpur unofficial results

PTI’s Zafar Anwar is in the lead with 136 votes. PPP’s Qasim Majeed is in second place with 87 votes.

LA-3 Mirpur III unofficial results

PTI’s Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry is leading with 1539 votes while PML-N’s Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed is in second place with 1479 votes, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results.

LA-4 Mirpur IV unofficial results

Unofficial results, preliminary results show PTI’s Chaudhry Arshad Hussain in the lead with 13,100 votes.

PML-N’s Chaudhry Rukhsar Ahmed is in second place with 10,366 votes.

LA-09 Kotli II unofficial results

PPP’s Javed Iqbal is leading with 9098 votes. Muslim Conference candidate Sardar Naeem is behind with 4027 votes.

LA-10 Kotli III

PPP leading in this constituency with 3502 votes. PTI’s Malik Yousuf is in second place and has bagged 2569 votes so far.

LA-11 Kotli IV unofficial results

PTI’s candidate Chaudhry Muhammad Ikhlaq is leading the constituency with 12830 votes. PML-N’s Raja Naseer is in the second position with 11166 votes.

LA-14 Bagh-I unofficial results

The former prime minister and head of the Muslim Conference’s Sardar Ateeq Ahmed Khan is in the lead with 780 votes while the PML-N candidate is behind with 3017 votes.

Unofficial results show PTI’s Abdul Qayoom Niazi in the lead with 10376 votes. PML-N’s Chaudhry Yasin Gulshan is behind with 6875 votes.

LA-21 Poonch unofficial results

An unofficial count of votes from LA-21 Poonch shows PPP in the lead and PTI in second place.

LA-15 Bagh II unofficial results

PTI’s Sardar Tanvir Ilyas is leading with 630 votes, whereas PPP’s Sardar Ziaul Haq is in second place with 328 votes.

LA-28 Muzaffarabad unofficial results

Unofficial results PTI candidate Chaudhry Shehzad is in the lead in this constituency with 226 votes while PML-N’s Murtaza Gillani is behind with 50 votes.

A total of 32 political parties are contesting the AJK elections 2021 and hundreds of independent candidates are also vying in all the 45 electoral constituencies including 33 in AJK districts and 12 meant of Jammu and Kashmir refugees settled in various parts of Pakistan.

The remaining 8 seats are reserved out of which five are for women, and one each for overseas Kashmiris, technocrats and religious scholars.
