A paramilitary soldier was killed and ten people were injured in a bomb attack on a Rangers vehicle in Karachi, the police said Monday.
The Rangers vehicle was targeted in Orangi Town no. 5, according to the police.
Two paramilitary soldiers and a policeman were among the ten people wounded in the attack. They were shifted to hospital. Heavy contingents of Rangers and police reached the site and cordoned it off.
Additional IG Ghulam Nabi Memon confirmed that the explosives were planted on a motorbike. They were set off through a remote control, he added. The police initially said that it was a grenade attack. Further investigation into the incident has been ongoing.
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail expressed alarm over the attack. He directed the Karachi commissioner to ensure best medical treatment of the injured. Governor Ismail also sought a detailed report into the attack from the police.
